Little Metallic Whatchamacallit
I've wanted to try metallic paint for awhile and this small dresser/buffet/nightstand/entry table/whatchamacallit seemed like the perfect victim.
Oh, you weren't expecting a REAL before photo were you?
It took a LOT of sanding and a few million coats of primer to get it perfectly smooth.
It's such a cute little thing, but too small to really hold much in the way of clothes.
So it became my whatchamacallit.
Also, thanks to Amy from The Salvage Collection for sharing with me (a LONG time ago) the idea to use these doors so that you all don't have to look at my driveway in every photograph!!

NOT your little girls headboard!
I found a vintage, pink, vinyl, diamond-tufted, king-sized headboard and fell in love.
Love at first sight can have it's problems though. Pink headboards are probably best reserved for little girls. Most little girls don't have king-sized beds. Hmmmmm.
So, I paid a visit to my nearest auto parts store and picked up a can of spray paint. Yep, paint made specifically for car interiors of the "pleather" variety. I chose black.
The end result makes me want to grab an old motorcycle jacket and go for a ride!
I'm so happy with how it turned out!

Summer Frenzy and a White Vanity
I have to laugh at myself. (Okay, I do that A LOT.) I always imagine summer as this warm, breezy, relaxing, fun- and cookout-filled time with family. Then reality sets in and we run around with our hair on fire trying to fit in all the activities. I KNOW I'm not the only one!
Luckily, I have this blog that forces me to stop for a moment and WRITE and think and reflect on how very much fun I'm having doing what I do. So, thank you for reading and commenting and letting me know that you enjoy it too!
Clearly I've become WORSE about taking before photos of my projects! I just get so excited to jump right in! (Is it too soon to start listing my 2013 New Year's Resolutions?)
I found this vanity on Craigslist and it was in such good shape that I actually considered leaving it unpainted and putting it in my booth with just updated fabric on the bench and new pulls.
I am so glad I changed my mind!
I think she's FOXY!
(Yes, I know. No one says FOXY anymore. Except me!)
Since there are about 546 pieces of furniture currently in the garage, we have to park 2 of the cars outside. I thought I'd try my hand at the 'mosiac' feature on my photo editor, so you wouldn't have to look at the reflection of the cars!
Fun, right? I hope you're having a great summer too!

Red China Hutch
My youngest son asked me "Mommy, what are you painting now?" I answered "a red china hutch".
He asked "is that like Red Solo Cup?"
So, the song was stuck in my head the rest of the day. Yikes. Not exactly lyrical perfection, or appropriate at all for a 5 year old, but funny nonetheless.

Aqua Dresser Reveal (Spray Victim #1)
You may remember this dresser from a previous post (here). It's the first piece I've done using my new spray gun! I really love how the gun makes quick work of painting and dry time!
The prep work was basically the same. I sanded and cleaned, re-glued and clamped a couple of the drawers and corrected a few flaws with wood filler.
Then I gave it 3 light-to-medium coats of paint (light coats are better, but sometimes I can't help myself!)
Then I distressed lightly and waxed using clear wax first and then a mixture of dark and clear. I buffed the wax and put back the "original" hardware, which I love and is stamped with "1960". (I'm not sure if the hardware is original to the piece, but it was on it when I bought it!)
Not bad for a first go at it (if I may say so myself!)

Chair love {part 764}
I love chairs. The end.
Okay, I love chairs and shoes that make me tall(er).
Wait, I don't mean chairs that make me taller.... nevermind.
ooops, not a true before, but can you see that lovely green color that the frame used to be? Yikes!
But shoes are shoes. For the most part you can't update
them. You can't repaint or reupholster or redesign them.
I've always been rebellious. Don't try to stop me.
And I'm over the moon about these, my newly "deconstructed" chairs!!

(Yes, I still paint in the dining room, despite what can happen!)
Don't you love the legs on these girls? I scored 4 of them!
So, I guess I
love chairs more than shoes. There. I said it.
