Inspired by Pinterest - Family Eye Chart

I've seen a lot of great spin-offs on subway art, but this one was caught my eye!

It's from FrillyChiliDesign

I used the free online program Custom Eye Chart Maker as a start, then added extra characters in Picasa.

I thought it seemed more like a true eye chart with black lettering (but that might just be my poor vision!)

I printed an 8x10 on cardstock and put it in an 8x10 frame (because that's what was on hand.)  I do think the larger frame might look better.  Either way it's pretty cute!  What do you think?

A Little of This and That - Busy Weekend!

I have lots to share, so bear with me, this may just be a 'stream of consciousness' (brain dump) post!  Sorry for the dark photos, it's seriously cloudy here today!!!

First, if you have little Harry Potter fans in your life like I do, you HAVE to make these great wands!  (The boys have only seen the first movie - I think they're still too little for it all.  But, they're huge fans anyway!)

Let's just say I am pretty popular in my house right now!  I even made one for Hubby and I so we could play along.

We spent the weekend casting spells on each other, the dog, the cat, inanimate objects....you get the picture!  I found the tutorial HERE and honestly, it's so easy I'm mad that I didn't think of it first!

I also had a busy day Saturday because it was so warm! (Hurry, paint EVERYTHING!!!!  Can you see me running around my garage?  Yep, the neighbors think I've lost my mind now, too)
Here are a couple of mirrors I finished; they both started out gold (and not in a pretty way)!  The first I painted white and glazed with black and the second got a shot of hot pink!

I also finished more of these...

They're iphone case inserts.  Lucky for me, my girlfriend who ordered them has my same first initial so I made myself a few new ones, too!  Want some?

Then, these funky brass candle stands adopted me...inspiration hasn't hit yet, but I can tell it's right around the corner... for the gold Christmas mantel maybe?

And last but not least, my favorite find of the week (maybe the month)....

What do you think?  I love this carved mahogany bench so much!  I have no idea where it should go or what to do with it!  So for now, it's going to sit here next to me and wait patiently!

Any suggestions for these last pieces?  Do you buy things even though you have no plans (or need) for them, or is that just me?  (Good thing I'm cheap frugal!)

Gallery Wall Love

I've been searching for a way to decorate the wall between the landing and 2nd floor of our home.  The east wall is covered by a huge window and the large south wall needed something with a lot of visual impact.  I wanted a gallery wall, but honestly, we know what we look like.  I found a few inspiration walls that used few (or no) pictures.  Perfect!  Here are a couple of my inspirations (many more on Pinterest HERE)

This gallery from 320 Sycamore is really well planned!  I secretly LOVE the yellow chairs flanking the buffet (maybe not so secretly anymore!)  It has everything; color, unique shapes, a street sign, and a globe to boot.  You didn't even see the globe, did you?

This color is fantastic and the idea of a mirror gallery is genius. I want to give credit for this one, but I found none.  If it's yours, please let me know so I can shout out your name and say thanks!!!

Okay, so here's mine.  So far.

My saintly hubby helped with the hanging and if you know him, you know I used up all my "helpful Hubby" credits for awhile!!

My goal is to "fill in" the gallery with small mirrors and other items.  I purposely spread the frames pretty far apart to save room for interesting finds (everything in life is a work in progress, right?) but I'm happy with the basic shape and that other thrifty mirror that started out dated and dirty gets to shine again.

Each frame has a unique shape, texture or angle.
I went with basic black, would you have gone with another color?
