I love finding something when it just feels like it belongs in my home.  It's even better when it's reminiscent of something I've seen in a decor catalog for too much a lot more money.  I also think I have an obsession with metals.  Anyone else?

Ugly Dresser Makeover

Ugly? Yes! $9.99? Yes! I had so much inspiration for this piece that I knew I could make it something special!

I especially love the amazing transformations from Brooke at All Things Thrifty!  

I always love what she does with color, but I ended up with a favorite, Blue Ocean Breeze, from Krylon - it's like an edgier Tiffany blue!

I had to repair two drawers and replace the center pull.

Inspired by Fall - Wine Cellar (closet makeover)

Fall has always marked the beginning of "project season" for me. Although, I do consider it a year-round sport! For some reason, I get it in my head that when the kids go back to school, I'll suddenly have a lot of free time - ha! Well, free time or not, I've always started my most memorable projects in the fall.

I thought I'd go back and catalog some of my favorite past transformations before I start to talk about my current ones. Some of these are old enough that I couldn't locate any before pictures, but I think you'll get the idea.

Not-so-subtle Plaster Wall Treatment

I was looking for something that would give the photo wall in our master bedroom a little bit of drama! I used a friend's subtle plastered wall as my inspiration. Since "subtle" isn't really my style, I went with bold, thick plaster and a dark chocolate brown color. I love it, but as I consider everything in life a "work in progress", I would love to wash in another color (gold?) to make the texture stand out even more. Any suggestions? This technique is fun and fast and inexpensive and messy!

The hardest part of the whole project was photographing afterwards!
